Transform Your Health With Operation Change

Operation Change is a brand new program coming to the Kroc Center this summer! Over the course of 18 weeks, 50 selected participants will learn about multiple health topics, spend time each week getting active, and understand how to live a healthier life. The meetings will be in three hour blocks every Saturday from 9AM to 12PM starting August 31st and will include guest speakers who are experts in their field.

This program will be lead by Miriam Rodriguez, a recent graduate from Chico State University with a bachelor's degree in Health Science and Education. Miriam is no stranger to the Kroc Center as she has worked here for the last five years in various roles. She has been working in the health field since high school when she started helping out at the San Diego State University Research Center on a program to help the Hispanic community choose healthier food options. “It was there I was able to see firsthand how one small change can make a huge difference in people's lives.” Says Miriam.

Miriam also has experience in health education and community outreach as she interned for the Chico State Health Center; gaining knowledge in helping educate the public on relevant health concerns and running clinics. She has a real passion for improving the lives of others and says, “My ultimate goal for this program is not just to have health workers helping out participants, but for participants to help each other out and create a community and support system for each other.”

This 18-week program aims to help Hispanic women lead healthier lives, who are between the ages 45-70, have joint issues and are overweight. In order to qualify, potential participants must attend the Town Hall meeting here at the Kroc Center on Saturday, July 27, from 9AM to 12PM. Lunch is provided.
