Skating School Program

*Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to class and put skates on. Be “ready to skate” at class start time. Your class instructor will meet your group off the ice.

We are unable to accommodate requests for make up classes and do not offer refunds for missed classes. However, we do offer all registered skaters complimentary guest passes for Public Skating or Figure Skating sessions. Guest passes are available for pick up on your first class day.

To progress in ice skating, skaters must practice the skills learned in class.  We provide guest passes for Open Public Skating & Freestyle Figure Skating sessions with your class enrollment.  Use these passes to practice or bring a friend and skate for fun.
We also recommend signing up for multiple class days.  
Make up classes are not available.  
 

 

NEW SKATERS
All new skaters must be comfortable on the ice and be able to fall down & get up without instructor assistance. Skaters may spend time off the ice surface getting comfortable prior to taking to the ice.  Rental skates will be available. Gloves & all sport helmets are recommended for all beginner level skaters.

Ice Explorers - Currently Full

Age: 3-6
Sign up for 1 or 2 days per week: Wednesdays 4:30-5:00PM and/or Saturdays 10:45-11:15AM

Starter ice skating class just for 3-6 year olds.  
Young skaters learn to balance both on and off the ice and are taught ice safety. Through fun & games, skaters will learn to skate forwards & backwards. Skaters must be ready to be independent on the ice and able to skate forward without assistance– instructors cannot provide 1-on-1 attention.  Parents may also sign up for class and learn with child.

All Stars is our third level of ice skating classes. Skaters become stronger ice skaters.  Skaters will learn skills from backward stroking, backward crossovers, & T-stops.

Specialty Classes

INTRO TO JUMPS SPINS
Sign up for 1 day per week: WEDNESDAYS 5:30-6:00PM &/or SATURDAYS 12:30-1:00PM
Intro to Jumps & Spins is our first figure skating class level. 
Skaters become stronger ice skaters.  Skaters will learn skills from ISI (Ice Sports Industry) level Gamma & Delta:  3 turns, mohawks, forward & backward edges, spin & jump entries, & more.
 

JUMPS & SPINS    
Sign up for 1 day per week: SATURDAYS 12:15-1:00PM
Skaters must have met pre-req of All Stars & Intro to Jumps & Spins. Skaters will learn skills from ISI (Ice Sports Industry) level Freestyle 1-4.  This class teaches core figure skating jumps & spins: tap toe jumps, waltz jumps, ½ rotation & full rotation jump positions, 2 foot spins, upright spins, and variations of spin & jump positions. Skaters will learn jumps up to the Axel in this fun interactive seminar style class.
 

OFF ICE FITNESS CLINIC
SATURDAYS 9-10AM / $175 for 7 weeks
Kroc Center Education Building
Bring: Water, Yoga Mat, Towel, Sneakers, Exercise bands (2), Jump Rope. Skaters also receive 6 guest passes for Freestyle Sessions
 

CARDIO SKATE
WEDNESDAYS 6-6:45PM
Cardio Skate is a fun “on ice” fitness class combining skating drills to music. Skaters must know how to skate forward, stop, and feel comfortable on the ice. Cardio Skate is an excellent workout designed to help skaters improve muscle strength, balance and coordination, and overall cardiovascular fitness.
 

INTRO TO ICE DANCING
WEDNESDAYS 5:30-6:00PM
Learn how to ballroom dance on ice! Skaters will learn beginning ice dancing skills and the first few ice dances: tango, waltz, and more!

 

ICE DANCING CLINIC
FRIDAYS 7-8:00AM
Includes 30 minutes of Social Ice Dancing followed by 30 minutes of Ice Dancing Clinic.

Private Lessons:

Skaters of all ages have the option of scheduling private lessons with a professional coach. Coaches are independent contractors and rent ice time to teach private lessons. We can help connect you with a coach - however, lesson scheduling & fees are set up independently from the Kroc Center.  Ice arena admission fee is paid directly to the rink prior to start of private lesson. Skaters in group classes receive guest passes for ice arena admission.  To inquire: [email protected]
