FAQs

Artsy Crafts
Ages 7-12

A lively arts and crafts class exploring a variety of mediums each week such as embossing, painting, drawing skills and mixed media art. Classes take place in Art Studio 155.

Claymation
Ages 8-12

Learn the basics of stop motion animation by creating characters out of clay, painting and designing a mini set, and creating a short claymation video to share.

Painting, Weave & Sculpt
Ages 7-12
In this fun class, you will learn about the elements of art, tips on drawing, mixing colors, painting on canvas, as well as learn how to create tiny pottery on a mini pottery wheel. No previous pottery experience necessary! You will learn how to center the clay and open it up to form tiny pots, bowls, or plates. This class is a great way to learn all of the art basics. It is less intimidating and is an accessible way to throw and center clay. All materials are provided, though students may want to bring a smock or apron to protect clothing from clay and paint splatters. Classes take place in Art Studio 155.

Create New Beginnings

Create New Beginnings is a 10-week Visual Arts program with thematic discussion, art lesson, guided prayer, and group meal. Thematic discussion topics and reflection on a different topic each week including: Vulnerability, Forgiveness, Reconciliation, Emotions, Empathy, Shame, Accountability, Pride, Self-Doubt, and Courage - Presentation of flowers - a lesson on the meaning of specific flowers chosen based on the theme of the week’s lesson - Art lesson techniques and skills including color mixing, color meaning, watercolor technique, acrylic paint techniques, design variations, and mixed media technique, with curriculum guides focusing on the week’s theme - Spiritual component noting Bible verses that relate to the themed lessons with guided prayer in the curriculum also related to the theme. - Each class concludes with sharing of projects, reflections on insights gained (artistic, spiritual, and personal) to foster further discussion and friendship.
