PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS: The Kroc Center offers private swim lessons available throughout the week Tuesday – Friday and on Saturday mornings. These classes cost $175.50 / members, $195 for nonmembers for four (4), 30-minute classes scheduled once a week. The availability of private lessons will change per month, so please visit our website, Krocsales.org, and type “private swim” into the search bar to see the current session’s offerings. Please Note: The Kroc Center does not schedule private swim lessons by individual demand; the student must enroll in lessons online when classes are made available for purchase. Please view our Learn to Swim Schedule to see when private lessons are being offered.
If you are registered in a private lesson, we highly encourage you to take a few minutes at the start of the first lesson to speak with the swim instructor and let them know what the student has previously worked on, any past swimming experiences, and the ultimate end goal of taking swim lessons. This will greatly benefit the instructors as they will be able to better align the skills taught in the class with the goals of the student. In the event that the student might miss a swim lesson, please provide a notice at least 24 hrs prior to the class start time in order for a makeup swim lesson to be provided. (Please reference our Refund and Cancellation Policies page for more information).
SEMI-PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS: Semi-private classes are very similar to private lessons but consist of 2 students at similar ages and levels with one instructor. To set up a semi-private class the student must first purchase a private lesson and email [email protected] to request to add the second student. The Intro to Lap Swim class is designed to help you learn the fundamentals of swimming laps in the pool, whether it's with a team or as an individual. This class will teach you the basics of swim sets, equipment, swim technique, goal setting, etc. to give you the ability to structure workouts that will help you achieve your fitness and/or competition goals. The prerequisites for this class include: Swimming a 25 freestyle in deep water, having fundamental knowledge and application of backstroke and breastroke, and the ability to keep yourself afloat in deep water. If you are unable to fulfill these prerequisites, I would recommend taking our Adult Learn to Swim class which bridges over to Intro to Lap Swim.
WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU ARRIVE:
• Keep in mind that the student must have appropriate swim wear or clothing of the proper material (no cotton).
• Always remember a towel, these are not provided.
• If your child has longer hair it is recommended to utilize a hair tie or swim cap.
• Go to the bathroom prior to the start of the lesson. If your child is not potty trained, they must wear a swim diaper and plastic pants (available for purchase at the front desk).
• If you wish to apply sunscreen, please do so 15 minutes prior to the start of the lesson. This helps keep the pools cleaner and less likely for it to run down into your eyes while in the water.
• All lessons will be in heated outdoor pools unless otherwise noted.
• Goggles will only be permitted in Youth Level 3, 4, & 5.
Level Prerequisites for all Group Swim Lessons
REMINDERS FOR PARENTS:
INSTRUCTOR COVERAGE: While we do our utmost best to provide consistent instructors for all students and classes, instructor coverage and changes will frequently take place during a session due to external factors and schedules. All the swim instructors are in communication when covering classes to ensure skills are still being taught appropriately.
• Please do not change your child on the pool deck. Our on-deck family single-stall restrooms or the locker rooms are available for the parent and child.
Should the swim lesson at any point be unsatisfactory to you, please don’t hesitate to reach out to the Aquatics Team (either by phone, email, or by finding a manager around the Kroc campus) with any questions or concerns, even if it might be during the actual lesson itself. We are always happy to help communicate goals and expectations to the swim instructors to provide a better swimming experience for everyone.
Thank you for choosing to swim at the Kroc Center and we look forward to seeing you by the pool!

“When do swim lessons go on sale?”
Regularly, swim lessons for members and non-members will go on sale on the third Sunday and Monday of the month. However, there are cases where the registration dates differ, such as months with big holidays or five weeks. As such, all registration dates for swim lessons starting January 2023 through till June 2023 can be found on our website in the Kroc Learn to Swim Flyer.
All lessons are available for purchase at midnight, as the day changes from Saturday to Sunday (for members) and from Sunday to Monday (for non-members).
“After checking in at the front, where should I go?”
Along the deck of the pool are signs denoting where each class is being held. Head over the correct sign and your instructor will call out your class level and time!
“How do I purchase a class?”
All our available swim lessons can be purchased on our website, Krocsales.org. Simply create an account and in the search bar type ‘swim lessons.’ All our offerings will become visible. Find the class, day and time that work best for you and add to cart.
“How do I know what level to sign up for?”
To discern what level to register for, please go to our website and under our “Welcome to Swim Lessons at the Kroc Center” section you will find a link to our Kroc Learn to Swim Flyer. Within this document is an outline of all our class levels, pricing, ages, and pre-requisite skills needed to join each level. Please reference that document to better decide what level to register for.
Any child between 6 – 36 months will fit within a Parent & Child class, students between the ages of 3 – 5 years of age can register for PreK lessons, and students 6 – 15 years old fit within our Youth classes.
“I went to sign up, but the class says it’s full. What is happening?”
Unfortunately, when a class is full it will still show as an option for purchase on our website. Our swim lessons tend to sell out within the first few days of becoming available for purchase. In this case, while the class still shows as an option, upon clicking it you will find that it is full. In small text below, it should say that the class has no available spots.
“I couldn’t sign up for the class I wanted. What can I do?”
Unfortunately, our classes sell out extremely fast. We highly recommend you sign up for the wait list of the class level you were hoping to register for. The Aquatics team regularly reviews their schedules and instructor availability, and if they can open additional classes they do so promptly and will inform the students registered on the waitlist via email.
Additionally, if a student were to cancel or transfer into a new level, the Aquatics team will also inform you of the space available and do their best to get you in.
“I emailed the Aquatics managers and haven’t heard back. Why is that?”
If you sent an email and haven’t heard back, go ahead and re-send your message, just to ping them again. It is extremely common for the Aquatics managers to be inundated with emails, messages, and voicemails. Most likely they have just not gotten the chance to respond, and so re-sending your message to remind them is generally helpful.
Additionally, for an even faster response and quicker help with your question, feel free to stop by the front desk and ask for the manager you’re trying to reach, or drop by the Aquatics office on the pool deck to catch them in person.
“There don’t seem to be a lot of classes or private lessons, is this a mistake?”
Within our Winter season, our swim lesson offerings do decrease significantly due to our instructor availabilities, staffing shortages, and school schedules. Come the late Spring and Summer times, class offerings will increase to provide more options for our customers.
“My kid was in a swimming lesson that was canceled midway through because the pool needed to be closed. Are they going to reschedule the class?”
Unfortunately, we are not able to reschedule any group lesson canceled due to vomit, lightening, or other events. In these cases, every student on the roster will receive a partial refund for the one missed lesson. It will take some time for that refund to appear in your account, so please check back a week later to see if the refund was processed.
In a private lesson canceled part way through because pool closure, the student can either receive a partial refund, or the lesson can be rescheduled, so long as the student emails Hannan asking to reschedule the class. Because of the high number of lessons running, it is the student’s responsibility to inquire about rescheduling their private lesson.
“I have an outstanding balance to pay, how can I clear that?”
In the event that you were transferred, added via the back-end, or have a balance, please check and first see if you received an email from the Aquatics team outlining what you owe and present that to the front desk. If there are any complications, the outstanding balance will have to be handled by an Aquatics Supervisor, so please ask for Hannan, Kayla, or Simonne at the front to assist.
“I need a refund, how to do I go about doing that?”
Please first carefully read through our Refund & Cancellation Policies PDF found on our website to ensure you are eligible to receive a refund. In the event of refunds, that must be approved by an Aquatics Supervisor. Please ask for them at the front. If they are not on campus, please send the Aquatics Team an email outlining your request and she will respond as soon as she can to handle your request.
“The instructor told me that my child belongs in a different level class. I need to transfer them; how can I do that?”
When it comes to transferring students, an Aquatics Supervisor will need to assist with that, as we do have capacity limits on our classes. The best way to go about transferring a student is to ask for an Aquatics Supervisor at the front desk and have one of them assist you in that moment. Otherwise, go ahead and email Hannan explaining the situation and she will do her best to get back to you.
“Do I need to check in each time?”
Yes, every student must check in at the front desk at each lesson. It is important that we record entry into our classes for roster tracking purposes. Please ensure that you are checking in at the front desk each time you arrive for lessons, and account for a few additional minutes to check in at the front desk before heading out to your class.
If you are unable to register for the swim lesson you were hoping for, please sign up on the appropriate waitlist! While this does not automatically enroll the student in the lesson it does provide the Aquatics Team with the ability to reach and inform you of any spaces that become available or if they are able to add any additional classes to accommodate the demand.
