Arts for All Ages

Whether you are looking for beginning classes or a continuation into more advanced instruction, the Kroc Center Arts Program is the right solution for you. Our instructors are professional dancers, illustrators and musicians with years of experience teaching and performing. Kroc Arts program participate in various recitals throughout the year.

Dance Classes

Ballet I, II, III, IV
Ages 4+

Ballet shoes, tights and leotards are required for Ballet II and above. Prerequisite classes and instructor approval required for all level II, III, and IV classes.

Broadway
Ages 5–8
Have fun learning techniques and self-expression to improve natural acting ability. This is a great introduction into the world of singing, dancing and acting for stage.

Intro to Dance
Ages 2–3
 
Designed for young beginners who are new to dance and group classes. Please wear dance shoes and bring a bottle of water. The Monday class has the capacity reduced for "Parent and Me" style learning. Due to capacity restrictions for the Thursday class, parents and guests must wait in designated waiting areas outside of class.

Hip-Hop
Ages 8–14

This class is designed for both beginner/intermediate dancers, covering upper and lower body movements that include popping, locking, breaking, and grooves.
 

Adult Modern
Ages 14+

Contemporary theatrical and concert dance developing the use of the entire body in movements expressive of abstract ideas. Suitable for beginning and intermediate level dancers.

Jazz Dance
Ages 8–14
 
Jazz dance combines techniques of ballet, modern, and popular dance. Jazz also has its own movement vocabulary ranging from the isolation of certain body parts to the movement of the entire body with musical rhythms.

Gymnastics
Ages 8-14
Learn basic tumbling skills on the ground and balance beam while improving strength and flexibility. Skills will include backbends, handstands and cartwheels.

Rhythmic Gymnastics
Ages 4–8

Rhythmic Gymnastics combines elements of gymnastics and dance while introducing the use of a ribbon, hoop and ball into routines. Classes are designed for beginners with an emphasis on flexibility and dance.

Music Classes

Group Guitar
Ages 8–14

Class size is limited to ensure individual attention. Instruments are available for use during class if needed. Prerequisite classes and instructor approval are required for Intermediate and Advanced Guitar classes.

Group Piano
Ages 6+
Students receive instruction in music theory, note reading, sight-playing, and performance skills. Students use state-of-the-art electronic pianos. Prerequisite classes and instructor approval are required for Intermediate and Advanced Piano classes.

Visual Art Classes

Creating Comics
Ages 7–
14
Students will work on creating their very own comics while learning drawing skills, creative writing, drawing to convey a story, page & panel set up, character and background design. Instructor: Miles Abbott.

Drawing Foundations
Ages 6-10

Want to take your drawing skills to the next level? Come practice the foundations of drawing with pencil, pen and colored pencil. Students will practice drawing 3D shapes, still life, figure drawing (drawing humans, including faces), and utilizing mirror imaging, point of view, and shading. Instructor:  Melissa Nickerson

Artsy Crafts
Ages 6–10
Let’s get creative! Young Artists will participate in seasonal art and craft projects using a variety of mediums (oil and chalk pastels, watercolors, paper art and everyday materials). Instructor: Rose Tomlinson.

Join us for Free Family Read & Play Day

Family Read & Play Day is a free monthly event for children five and under to help get them excited about reading. Each event includes a book reading featuring our book of the month, playtime with the imagination playground made of fun foam blocks, and a free book for families to add to their home library. The Family Read & Play Days take place in the Education Building from 10-11AM. Registration is not required

Join us for our Family Arts & Literacy Nights

Enjoy a live performance, an art project for the entire family, and a free book for each household! These free family friendly events are hosted to enrich children's lives by encouraging a love for knowledge, as well as presenting them with fun, interactive art projects and performances. Events are in person. Please register each family who will be attending for will call tickets.


August 21: Reopening of the Kroc Center Library! This will take place from 2-4PM. Join us in person for an Open House featuring a live storytelling performance, art projects, and other fun activities. Each family attending will receive a copy of our featured books "The Berenstain Bears: We Love the Library" and "Pete the Cat Checks Out the Library". 


September 23: Rob Thorsen Jazz Quartet. This will take place from 6:30-8PM - "Jazz” by Walter Dean Myers
