TOY & JOY CHRISTMAS PROGRAM
(For children 0-12)
The Salvation Army Kroc Center San Diego

The Salvation Army Kroc Center invites you to apply to our Toy and Joy Holiday program where eligible low-income families will receive a generous number of toys, food, and much more.

AM I ELIGIBLE?

• 1st Priority: Current, active Kroc Center Family Resource Center (FRC) clients with updated files in good standing.

• 2nd Priority: Students currently enrolled at our partner schools: Carver, Children of the Rainbow Preschool at Kroc, Fay, Ibarra, Language Academy, La Mesa Arts, La Mesa Dale, Lemon Avenue, Pendleton, Rolando, Rolando Park, Tubman Village Charter, Vista La Mesa.

• 3rd Priority: Community Waitlist: Applicants must provide proof of residence in the following zip codes: 91941-91946, 92105, 92115, 92119, 92120, 92182, 91977/78. Must apply between October 28-31.

• If you are outside these zip codes, we can put you in touch with the Salvation Army that serves you. Please email [email protected].

HOW DO I APPLY?

For Eligible Kroc Family Resource Center Clients and Kroc Center Partner Schools:

• Step 1: Submit Interest Form by October 25th, 2024. Type this link (https://forms.office.com/r/xChdbLudu2) into your internet browser and complete the Google Interest Form, so we can verify your eligibility.

• Step 2: Watch for Email. If selected, you will receive an email from the Salvation Army Angel Tree system (saangeltree.org) with a personal INVITATION CODE. (Check your spam folder if you don’t receive it by November 1st)

• Step 3: Apply. Go to (saangeltree.org) with your personal INVITATION CODE to officially apply. Please complete and submit the online application by November 15th, 2024.

For Community Waitlist:

• Submit interest Form between October 28-31. If selected, you will receive an email by November 8th, 2024, with instructions to apply. *Please see the back of this form with the documents that will be requested.

NEXT STEPS for all approved applicants:

• Confirmation: An email from the Salvation Army Angel Tree (saangeltree.org) system will be sent with your date and time to shop. You will receive this by December 13th. Appointments will be Dec 19, 20, 21, or 22.

• Shop: Our Christmas Program is set up like a store for 1 parent/guardian to shop for their children. We believe that when you shop for your children it provides dignity and pride and you can choose what they like.

• Some families may be selected for the Adopt-A-Family Program and will be notified directly. Please remember to bring your ID to the Salvation Army Kroc Center on your assigned date and time. Adults only; no children allowed so we can keep the magic of Christmas.

COMMUNITY WAITLIST APPLICANTS WILL BE ASKED FOR THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS:

1. IDENTIFICATION (ID) for all members of the household

☐ Adults (18+): Driver’s license, Medical ID, or passport

☐ Children: Birth certificate, shot record, or medical insurance card

2. INCOME for all members of the household

☐ Last year’s Taxes OR Paystubs of the last 30 days

☐ AND/OR all of these:

  • Cash Aid/TANF/Calworks GR Notice of Action or letter from your Case Manager (get it from www.mybenefitscalwin.org, make sure your name is on it)
  • Child support or alimony court papers
  • Proof of expenses paid by the noncustodial parent (checks, Venmo/Cash App, bank statements)
  • Social Security Annual Award letter
  • College schedule and Financial Aid Award statement
  • Disability or Unemployment benefits statement (get it from www.edd.ca.gov)
  • Food stamp award letter or Notice of Action
  • Section 8 or Housing Assistance rent letter
  • Child Support or Spousal Support (court order or get it from https://www.cse.ca.gov/CustomerConnect/login)

3. ADDRESS VERIFICATION

☐ Please give us ONE of these in your name:

  • Last month’s utility bill (SDGE, water, or trash)
  • Signed rental agreement from the last 30 days
  • Internet service bill (Cox, Spectrum, AT&T)

⊲ Please submit completed paper applications with all documents. It is your responsibility to provide copies of the requested documents.

⊲ Electronic applications are not available.
