The Best Fall Workshop Ever

Aug 1, 2019 | by Belinda Mendoza

Kroc Junior Theatre is back with another workshop starting this Fall. This time around, young actors will go through the steps of putting on a production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”. From auditions to rehearsals, design to performance, young performing artists will meet for 90 minutes once a week, to put on this heart-warming story, which will be presented on the final class period for friends and families.

This workshop is the perfect way to introduce children to theatrical performing, or an opportunity for experienced actors to practice their craft in advance of the 2020 Spring Musical auditions for Kroc Junior Theatre.

Whether your child lives on stage or simply does theatre for fun, theatre has many benefits and can help children come out of their shell and learn to speak out with confidence. “My Favorite thing about theatre is that we get to express ourselves and be our true selves on stage. I think theater has helped me become the best version of myself.“ Says Kaylin, who is new to Kroc Junior Theatre this year, but has already landed a principal role in their current production.

“What I really hope these kids get out of it, is that they have a lot of fun, make new friends, learn to work together, and just cultivate a passion for the show so they’ll want to come back and work on another production here.” Says Glynis Eckert who works at The Kroc Center and has been volunteering with Kroc Junior Theatre for over three years now.

Kroc Junior Theatre has been gaining in popularity over the last couple years, with the last two programs reaching capacity before the sign up period even ended. Glynis and the returning Kroc Junior Theatre team has been attributed with really building up the program. Glynis has even been nominated for an award due to all the work she has put into it. “I was a junior theatre kid myself and I wanted to give back to the community by volunteering to help out with the show. It’s a lot of fun, hanging out with 40+ kids that are having fun themselves on stage, there’s just this buoyancy and vibrancy, it’s such a great energy to be around.”

This workshop will run from September 12 until October 24, with practice every Thursday from 5PM to 6:30PM. The final performance will be held on Wednesday, October 30th. All kids ages 7 to 18 are welcome to join in on this exciting opportunity.

This workshop is $170 for non-members, $160 for members. Scholarships are also available now, apply at the Family Resource Center. Sign up today!
