What to know for Kroc Swim Lessons
What to know before you arrive:
Keep in mind that the student must have appropriate swim wear or clothing of the proper material (no cotton).
Always remember a towel, these are not provided.
If your child has longer hair it is recommended to utilize a hair tie or swim cap.
Go to the bathroom prior to start of lesson. If your child is not potty trained, they must wear a swim diaper and plastic pants (available for purchase at the front desk).
If you wish to apply sunscreen, please do so 15 minutes prior to the start of the lesson. This helps keep the pools cleaner and less likely for it to run down into your eyes while in the water.
Even though the weather is still warm, it is still recommended to bring something warm for after the lessons.
All lessons will be in heated outdoor pools unless otherwise noted.
Goggles will only be permitted in Youth Level’s 3, 4, & 5.
Reminder for Parents
Parent / guardians must stay at the Kroc Center while children attend classes, if the child is under age 12.
Children under the age 12 must be escorted by a parent / guardian to their class(es).
Children under age 12 must be picked up by their parent / guardian in the class area.
Parents / guardians should report any concerns about classes, Kroc associates or building maintenance to a Lifeguard or a Guest Service Associate.
Please do not change your child on the pool deck. Our on-deck family single-stall restrooms or the locker rooms are available for the parent and child.
How Classes run
Each lesson is 25 minutes, followed by 5 minutes for transition and parent communication. If you have any specific concerns make sure to communicate these to the instructors during this time. Make-ups are not given for Group Swim Lessons, Private swim lessons may be made up if you contact the Assistant Aquatics Manager, 24 hours prior to the scheduled time; if you do not do so we cannot guarantee you will be able to makeup your lesson.
Check in:
Our goal is to always have somebody out to help direct you to the correct classes and check in. Please stop by the front desk each week check your child in.
Where to go:
Once you arrive at the pool deck, please take a seat on either of bleachers by entrance into our recreational pool. The instructors will come out and call out their class level and time and will then lead the students into the pool. If you’re ever unsure of where to go, please feel free to stop by the Aquatics Office located on the far-end of the pool deck and ask to speak with Hannan Mouawad.
Parent & Child:
Weekday classes will be held in the outdoor heated recreational pool. Weekend classes will always be in the indoor therapy pool which is located directly to the left after coming in through the check-in gate.
Private lessons:
Will usually be in the middle area of the rec pool but do change based on the various levels of the individuals. The instructors will know their student’s name and will be out on deck or in the water ready for you. Due to privacy of the students there will not be a list of who has which instructor in this letter.
