Performing Arts for All Ages

Whether you are looking for beginning classes or a continuation into more advanced instruction, the Kroc Center Performing Arts Program is the right solution for you. Our instructors are professional dancers, illustrators and musicians with years of experience teaching and performing. Kroc Performing Arts program participate in various recitals throughout the year.

Dance Classes

Ballet I, II, III, IV, V, Pre-Pointe
Ages 3+

Ballet shoes, tights and leotards are required for Ballet II and above. Prerequisite classes and instructor approval required for all level II, III, and IV classes.

Broadway Dance
Ages 5–8
Have fun learning techniques and self-expression to improve natural acting ability. This is a great introduction into the world of singing, dancing and acting for stage.

Parent & Me Tumbling
Ages 1-5
Parent and Me style classes for little Tumblers and Musicians.  Parents and tumblers, please dress comfortably and be prepared to move and dance in this high energy class!

 

Intermediate Adult Ballet/Modern
Ages 14+

Contemporary theatrical and concert dance developing the use of the entire body in movements expressive of abstract ideas. Suitable for beginning and intermediate level dancers.

Gymnastics I, II
Ages 3-14
Learn basic tumbling skills on the ground and balance beam while improving strength and flexibility. Skills will include backbends, handstands and cartwheels.

Tap
Ages 4-8
Learn all the basics of tap! Dancers will learn a variety of steps that focus on timing, musicality, and rhythm. Most tap classes follow a similar structure including a warm-up, across the floor progressions, and a center combination. Please dress comfortably and bring tap shoes with you to class.

Kroc Jr. Holiday Choir
Ages 7–14

Looking for a fun activity this holiday season? Look no further! Join the Kroc Jr. Holiday Choir! We will sing and learn together in five-week-fun-filled Saturday rehearsals, culminating with a performance at our Joan B. Kroc Theatre on Sunday December 17th at 10:00 AM during a special church service. The choir will practice skills such as vocal technique & warm-ups, reading simple choral music, and singing together in a group. We may even throw in some two-part harmony!

Beginning Guitar
Ages 8–14

Students learn beginning guitar skills and fundamentals of music such as the components of operating a guitar (strumming, picking, tuning), how to form chords and apply them to play countless songs, as well as learning how to read music. Instruments are available for use during class if needed. After one session of Beginning Guitar, students who wish to continue will enroll in Pre-Intermediate Guitar.

Pre-Intermediate Guitar
Ages 8–14

A progression from Beginning Guitar. Students receive further instruction on how to operate a guitar, read music, and play songs. Instruments are available for use during class if needed.

Intermediate Guitar
Ages 8–14

Students must complete all prior levels as prerequisites and have instructor approval before registering for these classes. A progression from Pre-Intermediate Guitar. Students receive instruction on guitar techniques, reading music, and playing songs. Instruments are available for use during class if needed. Prerequisite classes and instructor approval required for all Intermediate and Advanced Guitar classes. 

Advanced Guitar
Ages 8–14

Students must complete all prior levels as prerequisites and have instructor approval before registering for these classes. Students receive advanced instruction on guitar techniques, reading music, and playing songs. Instruments are available for use during class if needed..

Beginning Piano
Ages 6+
Students learn beginning piano skills and fundamentals of music such as introductory theory, note reading, some ear training, rhythm, time signatures, and music symbols and staffs. After one session of Beginning Piano, students who wish to continue will enroll in Pre-Intermediate Piano.

Pre-Intermediate Piano
Ages 6+
A progression from Beginning Piano. Students receive instruction in music theory, note reading, sight-playing, ensemble playing, and performance skills.

Intermediate Piano
Ages 6+
Students must complete all prior levels as prerequisites and have instructor approval before registering for these classes. A progression from Pre-Intermediate Piano. Students receive further instruction in music theory, note reading, sight-playing, ensemble playing, and performance skills.progression from Beginning Piano. 

Advanced Piano
Ages 6+
Students must complete all prior levels as prerequisites and have instructor approval before registering for these classes. Students build upon skills such as improvisation, incorporating different styles of music, chord reading, rhythm, and developing repertoire.

Performing Arts Classes

Improvisation / Acting
Ages 10-15

This class will use improv games and other structures to build skills to think on your feet, trust your self and your ensemble in the present moment, create strong characters for theater/film, and learn the building blocks of acting for the theater and in performance. Will include movement warm-ups, reading script excerpts, fun writing prompts, and mini-showings. Be creative! Calling all Wanna-Be-Wizards: LET'S MAKE MAGIC!

Kroc Junior Theatre

 

Painting
Ages 8-14

Explore a variety of painting mediums while learning technique and finding your own artistic voice.  All materials are provided, though students may want to bring a smock or apron to protect clothing from paint splatters. Classes take place in Art Studio 155.

Sculpture
Ages 6-12

Learn all the basics of sculpting clay using slab, pinch, and coil techniques. All materials are provided, though students may want to bring a smock or apron to protect clothing from clay splatters. Classes take place in Art Studio 155.

Join us for our Family Arts & Literacy Nights

Enjoy a live performance, an art project for the entire family, and a free book for each household! These free family friendly events are hosted to enrich children's lives by encouraging a love for knowledge, as well as presenting them with fun, interactive art projects and performances. Please only register one member of your household for the event.

Events are held in person from 6:30-8:00pm (unless otherwise noted)

Join us for Free Family Read & Play Day

Family Read & Play Day is a free monthly event for children five and under to help get them excited about reading. Each event includes a book reading featuring our book of the month, playtime with the imagination playground made of fun foam blocks, and a free book for families to add to their home library. The Family Read & Play Days take place in the Education Building from 10-11AM. Registration is not required.

CPR Training Opportunities

Put safety first and enroll in one of our upcoming CPR Classes providing Adult, Child, and Infant CPR/AED and First Aid certifications. Class capacities are fixed and registration is first come first serve. Registration will be available 3 weeks prior to each class.
