Del Cerro Community gives 100+ Thanksgiving Dinners

Nov 24, 2020 | by Glynis Eckert

The Kaiser's 34th Annual Del Cerro Food Drive provided huge Thanksgiving feasts for 100+ less fortunate families chosen by the Salvation Army.

In a grass roots effort the Del Cerro Community came together to ensure their neighbors in need wouldn’t go hungry this Thanksgiving. Kassie Kaiser, the inspiration behind the drive, has been faithfully leading the drive for 34 years. She has inspired Home Depot to donate the boxes, her friends and family to fill the boxes with food, and Windmill Farms to donate the turkeys. Even with the challenges of COVID-19 this year, the Del Cerro Community came together to make Thanksgiving happen for those in need.

Volunteers (from passing out flyers, collecting, sorting, boxing food, and donations to complete the boxes) makes this possible for the Salvation Army each Thanksgiving.

The Del Cerro Community was hugely generous in providing tons of food and donations to complete the Thanksgiving boxes. Each one contained approximately 75-80 pounds of food, including turkey, bags of apples, potatoes and onions plus ALL other types of Thanksgiving food, freshly baked dinner rolls, roasting pans and recipes.

The Kaiser’s want to specifically thank: Windmill Farms for providing frozen turkeys, Home Depot for providing the boxes, Jack and Candy Kirchner for providing the space for collection and sorting and to Norm Katz for all of his extraordinary organizational skill and help every year.
