Open Table: Where Good People, Good Food, and Good Fun Meet in the Spirit of Community

Oct 3, 2023 | by Glynis Eckert

Welcome to Open Table, a heartwarming initiative led by Kroc Center Ministries that goes beyond just sharing a meal—it's a celebration of good people, good food, and good fun, all wrapped in the spirit of community and a touch of inspiration from the Good Book. This weekly gathering is an invitation to anyone in the community who wishes to partake in a free dinner and build meaningful relationships in a warm and welcoming setting.

Every Tuesday at 6 pm, the Rolando room on the west end of the campus transforms into a haven where people from all walks of life come together. It's not just a meal; it's an experience that fosters connections at a personal level, breaking down barriers and building bridges between diverse individuals.

At the heart of Open Table are the good people who make it all possible. The Kroc Center Ministries team, along with volunteers and attendees, create an atmosphere of inclusivity, compassion, and genuine care. These are not just dinners; they're gatherings of kindred spirits, forging connections that extend far beyond the walls of the Rolando room.

The aroma of delicious food wafts through the air, tantalizing taste buds and creating a sense of anticipation. Open Table serves not only nourishment for the body but also feeds the soul. The carefully prepared meals are a testament to the commitment to providing not just sustenance, but a culinary experience that reflects the warmth and generosity of the community.

Laughter, shared stories, and genuine enjoyment are the ingredients that make Open Table more than just a meal—it's an evening of good fun. Whether it's a shared joke, a friendly conversation, or the joyous sounds of children playing, the atmosphere radiates positivity, creating memories that linger long after the last bite is taken.

In the midst of this community celebration, Open Table adds a special touch by drawing inspiration from the Good Book. Whether it's a brief reflection, a moment of prayer, or a shared verse, the spiritual element adds depth and meaning to the gathering, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.

Open Table is not just a weekly dinner; it's a testament to the power of community, the joy of shared meals, and the beauty of connecting with others on a personal level. This Kroc Center Ministries-led initiative exemplifies the spirit of goodwill, inviting everyone to partake in the simple yet profound pleasures of good people, good food, good fun, and a little something from the Good Book. Join the community every Tuesday at 6 pm in the Rolando room on the west end of the campus and experience the magic of Open Table for yourself.
