Youth Hockey at the Kroc

Recreational in-House hockey played under the auspices of USA Hockey Rules & Regulations. Children will need to take a Skating FUNdamentals class through our skating school. After learning how to skate, children are then enrolled in a Youth hockey skating class. The semester consists of 6 weeks and is run year-round. After successful completion, children may then be enrolled into a Rookie team.

Hockey develops skills on the ice that build a foundation for a lifetime. In addition to athletic prowess, hockey promotes confidence, pride, focus and responsibility. With an emphasis on fun, hockey is a game to be played and enjoyed for life.

Youth Learn to Play Hockey

In our Learn to Play programs for youth, participants will develop skating skills and learn the game. Skating is the core skill in hockey and is emphasized in all our programs. Certified USA Hockey coaches teach all classes.

YOUTH HOCKEY SKATING  Ages 5 – 12.
A fun introduction hockey skating fundamentals and skating techniques. Ice hockey helmet with the full cage is the only required gear for this class.  Pre-requisite: Tot Hockey or Skating Fundamentals 

TOT / KINDER HOCKEY  Ages 3 – 7.
For young skaters to learn fundamental hockey skills with their peers in a positive environment. Full hockey equipment required, equipment maybe available to rent for a $25 fee per session. New player receive a free stick! Full hockey equipment required, equipment maybe available to rent for a $25 fee per session.

YOUTH ROOKIES  Ages 5 – 12.  
For skaters serious about learning to play hockey. Building on fundamental hockey skating skills, Rookies learn how to play the game and participate in Skills Clinics alongside current. Prerequisite: Completion of Youth Hockey Skating class.

ROOKIES 1  Ages 6 – 12.  
Students are introduced to hockey skills: passing and stick handling. Full hockey equipment is required. New Rookies receive a Rookie hockey jersey and socks. Prerequisite: Completion of Tot Hockey or Youth Hockey Skating class.

ROOKIES 2  Ages 6 – 12.  
An advancement from Rookies 1. Must have completed a Hockey Skating class & Rookies 1. Must have a complete set of hockey equipment: helmet, hockey gloves, shin pads, elbow pads, hockey pants & shoulder pads. Prerequisite: Rookies 1.
